IBM Informix Developer Edition packs the full suite of Informix functionality into a free product that is ideal for application development and testing. It does contain scalability constraints including processing, memory and storage limitations. It is available on Linux, Unix, Mac OSX and Windows in 32- and 64-bit versions where appropriate.

IBM Informix Innovator-C Edition goes even further and can be used for end-user production workloads without a license fee (although not for future re-distribution without a licence). It provides the most widely used data processing functionality including limited Enterprise Replication, High Availability, and Informix Flexible Grid clustering.
